Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa – Post-Vocational Education Work stream

This stream is for international students who have recently graduated with qualifications that are closely relate to specific occupations Australia needs. You can stay in Australia temporarily.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • have completed your course in the 6 months immediately before the day you apply
  • have not previously granted you a subclass 485 or a subclass 476 visa as a primary visa holder
  • meet age requirement
  • have an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
  • meet skills assessment requirement
  • meet the Australian study requirement
  • each degree, diploma or trade qualification used to meet the Australian study requirement is closely related to your nominated skilled occupation
  • meet English language requirement
  • hold an eligible visa
  • be in Australia
  • you must demonstrate you have health insurance in Australia
  • meet Public Interest Criteria
  • meet Special Return Criteria.

Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa – Post-Higher Education Work stream

This stream is for international students who have recently graduated with a degree from an Australian institution. You can stay in Australia temporarily.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • have completed your course in the 6 months immediately before the day you apply
  • have not previously granted you a subclass 485 or a subclass 476 visa as a primary visa holder
  • meet age requirement
  • meet English language requirement
  • hold an eligible visa
  • meet the Australian study requirement
  • your qualification at degree level and above & is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Courses and Institutions for Overseas Students (CRICOS)
  • be in Australia
  • you must demonstrate they have health insurance in Australia
  • meet Public Interest Criteria
  • meet Special Return Criteria.

Skilled Independent (subclass 189) visa – Points tested stream

This steam is designed for skilled applicants who submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect and received an invitation to apply for this visa. You can stay in Australia permanently.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and received an invitation
  • have an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
  • meet skills assessment requirement
  • meet age requirement
  • meet English language requirement
  • not hold certain regional visas for certain periods
  • be able to score at least 65 on the points test
  • meet Public Interest Criteria
  • meet Special Return Criteria.

Skilled Independent (subclass 189) visa – Hong Kong stream

This stream is designed for Hong Kong or British National (Overseas) passport holders who have met certain visa and residence requirements. You can stay in Australia permanently.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • hold a Hong Kong or British National (Overseas) passport at the time your visa application is made
  • have held an eligible visa & have been usually resident in Australia for a continuous period of at least 4 years immediately before the date of your application
  • must have complied with the conditions of your eligible visa when in Australia
  • meet English language requirements
  • meet Public Interest Criteria
  • meet Special Return Criteria.

Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa

Subclass 190 visa is designed for skilled applicants who submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect and received an invitation to apply for this visa. You can stay in Australia permanently.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency
  • have an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
  • meet skills assessment requirement
  • meet age requirement
  • meet English language requirement
  • not hold certain regional visas for certain periods
  • be able to score at least 65 on the points test
  • meet Public Interest Criteria
  • meet Special Return Criteria.

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491) visa

Subclass 491 visa is designed for skilled applicants who submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect and received an invitation to apply for this visa. You can stay in Australia temporarily.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and be nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency or be sponsored by an eligible relative
  • have an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
  • meet skills assessment requirement
  • meet age requirement
  • meet English language requirement
  • be able to score at least 65 on the points test
  • meet Public Interest Criteria
  • meet Special Return Criteria.

Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) (subclass 191) visa – Regional provisional stream

This steam is designed for individuals holding an eligible visa who have lived for at least 3 years in a designated regional area. You can stay in Australia permanently.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • have held an eligible visa for at least 3 years at the time your visa application is made
  • must have complied with the conditions of your eligible visa when in Australia
  • must provide notices of assessment issued by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for three income years
  • meet Public Interest Criteria
  • meet Special Return Criteria.

Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) (subclass 191) visa – Hong Kong stream

This steam is designed for individuals holding an eligible visa who have lived for at least 3 years in a designated regional area. You can stay in Australia permanently.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • hold a Hong Kong or British National (Overseas) passport at the time your visa application is made
  • have held an eligible visa & have been usually resident in a designated regional area of Australia for a continuous period of at least 3 years immediately before the date of your application

National Innovation (subclass 858) visa

Subclass 858 visa is designed for persons seeking to settle permanently and who have an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in an eligible area.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • be nominated by an eligible person or organisation
  • not hold certain regional visas for certain periods
  • meet age requirement
  • have an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in a profession, a sport, the arts, or academia and research
  • be still prominent in the area
  • would be an asset to the Australian community
  • have no difficulty getting employment, or in becoming established independently in your field in Australia
  • meet English language requirements
  • meet Public Interest Criteria
  • meet Special Return Criteria.
